Odaki

Last night I went to an awesome sushi place. They offer all you can eat sushi for around 20 bucks...a word of warning - you will get sushi drunk...you will not stop eating until you can't bend over to put your shoes back on!

The Electrical Engineering Graduate Student Society (EEGSS) put together a HUGE gathering of grad students to go and eat for only 15 bucks! Including coffee/tea and a nice green tea ice cream dessert! A lot of sissies were present though that didn't eat much, but that didn't stop ME from continuing for more rounds :D In fact, other tables couldn't finish their sushi platters (which is a huge no-no and you will be charged extra for uneaten sushi) and so they brought their sushi's over to me. I was rediculously full afterwards! I recommend this place for the sushi lover. If only Anna was there too.

Halloweeeen

Halloween...yea! Well, Anna and I wanted to dress up meet some friends down in Old Montreal to party buuuut it rained...a LOT. and it was cold. So it was a pretty relaxing halloween weekend.

Since I bought a cheap suit ensemble to be Borat, I decided I'd go to school dressed up on Tuesday. IT was very naaaice.

I ran around being stupid and quoting the usual Borat lines...twas fun. I managed to grab a couple of people (including a Prof and the secretary from our department) for photos:

Change of supervision

Yes, it has happened...my patience ran out and I left the evil demon professor. For those that read this, there exists a certain professor at McGill University that is a charming/Charismatic psychopath...proceed with caution.

So I am now with a NORMAL professor. That's all I want. I'm willing to be with anyone who is NOT a psychopath, that's all I ask for.

Want to know how it happened? It went like this:

After a year and a half, I realize that he is a psychopath and that I can't take it anymore. It was the usual email that suddenly triggered it, stating how disappointed he was in me about blah blah blah...bullshit tactics to get his students to work all the time. I went to a therapist to talk about it and understand wtf is up, and visited a few sites about psychopaths....turns out he is a charming psychopath...wow.

I knew I just wanted to leave his research group for any other, but I knew I had to plan EVERYTHING behind his back. I'm glad I did! I just sent an email saying that I was very sick and that I'll be in when I feel better. I sent an email to the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies asking for an appointment. Now, this email, it was more of a 4 page essay with the thesis that he is a charming psychopath and that I want to leave the group ASAP. I put a LOT of examples showing his callousness, lack of empathy, freaky displays of power trips, etc. I gained her empathy and she was immediately on my side.

After 5 months of bullshit, him trying to delay, him trying to get me completely out of the research field, him trying to get me out of the university, etc.....I finally was rid of him! I am still researching the same area and really like it. Problem is that it added some time to my degree; small price to pay if you ask me! So, take it from me, always be careful of psychopaths in high places! Psychopaths aren't just low-life freaks that go around killing and go to jail! Robert Hare is heavily involved in this study these days.

checkpoint

i'm just thinking about how much time has passed by since i first moved here. a lot has happened in a year and a half. the funny part is that i'm only half way to my degree...ya, turns out i'm in the 3 year program. and then i look at that and think 'wtf mate'. if i can get out of this 7 years of lunacy with my brain intact, i will be happy.

not sure why but my internet went down for most of the weekend and yesterday. internet is great...it helped fill in gaps where my professors fell short, it helped me teach myself guitar, it was my third parent. soon macs around the world will have built in titties with sacs of titty milk....ya, too wierd.

the spanish guitar class is almost over..bummer. we learn pretty cool strumming and fingering (heh) techniques but this last one that we learned last night was crazy tough. makes you think so much while you play. i can't even properly think about changing between simple open chords...but i guess that goes away with practice.

man, i wish i had time to practice and do a lot of other useless crap...i think i need a vacation soon. now that i remember, i got jipped out of my christmas break. soon i will take a break....soon.

thoughts...

I've been thinking about things. about how school is... where i've ended up... and i should look on the bright side...things could be worse. at least i was given the opportunity to do research at a reputable university, even if it is with an evil prof. i enjoy what i'm doing so i should just keep the positive thoughts and remember my goals.
it turns out that our paper that we recently submitted to a conference was rejected, possibly due to crappiness rather than lateness. some papers that were submitted later than ours were accepted. but the redemption comes from the fact that my research up till now has got a couple of local engineering companies very interested and so they are giving us some cash (sweeet). so you never know i guess...the cheesy moral is to always stay positive and never let anything discourage or demotivate you from what you like to do. something else is around the corner.

Iran

Collection of papers taken from BBC:

Saudi Arabia's Al-Riyad

Encouraging Israel, supplying it with the material and scientific means and encouraging it to create a balance of terror in the region is the main cause for seeking weapons equal in strength and deterrence.

Oman's Oman

Israel's nuclear weapons and nuclear reactors constitute the real danger to the security and stability of the region and the whole world. If we are asking Iran to be transparent in its nuclear dealings, then we also ask the other big countries to be more transparent.

Egypt's Al-Jumhuriyah

No to double standards - Israel relies on its nuclear arsenal to carry out an expansionist aggressive policy and to reject any just settlement to the Palestinian issue. As a consequence, the international community's failure to address this aggressive nuclear arsenal removes the credibility of any international move to prevent others from attempting to follow in Israel's footsteps.

Jordan's Al-Dustur

Why do we not also possess the nuclear weapons to protect our security in the midst of a forest of nuclear arsenals and repel the hostile forces which possess such a weapon and which are not deterred by the international law?

Egypt's Al-Wafd

When the Iranian president Ahmedinejad sneezes the whole of the West shudders... because nobody knows the final destination of the Iranian nuclear train. There are several important considerations, including the fact that Ahmedinejad does not joke, is not looking for a role, is not raving mad and is not concerned about being a box office star in the international circus. The only thing which concerns him is Iran and its place on the world map.

Iran's Iran Daily

Iran is the only country to have allowed the highest number of IAEA inspections of its nuclear sites in recent memory. Now this process of systematic cooperation is being challenged at home and undermined abroad. With politics, power, greed and the dangerous Israeli influence overshadowing Western national interest, wisdom and reason with respect to Iran's nuclear programme, the patience in Tehran is fast running out.

As if the irresponsible and often clumsy attempts by the US-led Western alliance against our civilian nuclear activities were not enough, IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei jumped into the fray at the weekend. The able diplomat who has long enjoyed respect in Tehran because of his integrity, independence and impartial manner, added his voice to the Western tune. His tilt towards the openly anti-Iran lobbies... can best be described as lethal and not in the best interest of the agency he leads.

Iran's Resalat

In order to deprive Iran of its right of access to nuclear technology, America has launched a propaganda campaign against the Islamic republic and claims that Iran's nuclear programme poses a threat to the West. While the result of unprecedented inspections by the IAEA has given no indication about the non-peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities, today, America, as a country that possesses the highest number of nuclear weapons and shows no trace of hesitancy in using them, as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki bears witness to, poses a serious threat to peace and security in the world.
